Natural Wonders of Nigeria
Cross River Natural Park:
The Cross River National Park is a Nigerian national park located in the state of Cross River. Kwang (founded in 1991) and Oban are the two distinct portions (established 1988). The park covers approximately 4,000 km2, with main moist tropical rainforests in the north and central regions and mangrove swamps along the shore. The park is divided into sections that are owned by different organizations.
The park is home to one of Africa’s oldest rainforests and has been designated as a biodiversity hotspot. The park is home to sixteen primate species. Common chimps, drills, and Cross River gorillas (in Okwangwo) are all rare primates. Another primate, the gray-cheeked mangey, appears to have gone extinct in the area recently.
The federal government is recruiting investors to help expand this and other national parks’ eco-tourism potential. The motto for the park is “The Pride Of Nigeria.” With a resort, café, and wildlife museum, the Kenyan tourist village, about an hour’s drive from Calabar, will provide visitors with a base from which to observe the park. Game viewing, bird watching, and gorilla tracking are some of the activities available.
ZUMA ROCK:
Zuma Rock is a massive natural monolith in Niger State, Nigeria, formed by an igneous intrusion of gabbro and granodiorite. It is located immediately west of Nigeria’s capital Abuja, on the main road connecting Abuja and Kaduna off Mandala, and is known as the “Gateway to Abuja from Solera.” Zuma Rock rises to a height of approximately 300 metres (980 feet) above the surrounding area.
To accommodate tourists, a view point known as the Zuma Rock Nigerian Village was built behind the rock. Because of its face, the rock is thought to be the watchman of F.C.T. Travel Advice The ascent to Zuma Rock’s summit is difficult and perilous for those who go unprepared.
Zuma Rock is depicted in this painting.
Zuma Rock is one of Africa’s Seven Wonders. Zuma Rock is a massive monolithic rock located north of Abuja, Nigeria’s capital. It is known as the “entrance to Abuja.”
